I'm sorry, kguske, but I have to disagree with you on that one.
In PHP-Nuke, when you del the PHP-Nuke Topic Icon from the Icons Tab of the Site Admin Panel; the info related to the creator of PHP-Nuke is also automatically removed.
However, his info remains in the body of the code as comments. To legally remove this, I understand, payment is required. |
If you have a GNU GPL licensed product that is distributed or redistributed under the terms and in accordance with the GNU GPL then you CANNOT remove ANY copyright notices at all.
In the case of phpNuke (assuming it is a GPL product), the original author does allow you to buy a commercial license, which allows you to legally remove the copyright notice in the footer BUT the copyright notices inside the files themselves MUST stay, you cannot remove them.
If you remove copyright notices without the owners permission and you have no legal argument to support their removal, all it takes is someone to complain to your web host and they will turn your account off.
