Installing nukeSEO

1 Requirements
Since the administration for nukeSEO is at the site level, rather than in the Sitemap module, nukeSEO can be used with most versions of PHP-Nuke. However, it requires the definition of the ADMIN_FILE and MODULE_FILE variables introduced in the patched 2.9 release from http://nukefixes.com.

If you're using an older version of PHP-Nuke or don't have the patched files, you can add a line to your admin.php, index.php and modules.php files to use nukeSEO. In admin.php, just after the initial <?PHP add:

define('ADMIN_FILE', true);

In modules.php and index.php, just after the initial <?PHP add:

define('MODULE_FILE', true);


2 Load extracted files
After extracting the files from your nukeSEO download, copy them to your PHP-Nuke directory. No files should be overwritten, unless you previously installed nukeSEO.

3 Set permissions
In the /includes directory, set the permissions of meta.php and meta2.php to 644. This allows the META tag editor to write the META tags and a backup.

4 Set the Sitemap configuration
Log in as an administrator, select the nukeSEO configuration, and choose Configure under the Google Sitemap column. Disable the content types (modules) that you do not wish to include in the Sitemap function. This applies to both regular / HTML and Google sitemaps.

Disabled modules are stored in a database table, which is automatically created, if necessary, when accessing this function.

5 Activate the Sitemap module
In the modules administration, activate the Sitemap module. This must be done before adding the sitemap to your Google Sitemap account.

After activating the Sitemap module, create or login to your Google Sitemap account. To access or create your Google Sitemap account, click the Status / Login link under the nukeSEO administration Google Sitemap column. Add your domain and specify the URL as modules.php?name=Sitemap&op=Google for the sitemap.

Google will attempt to confirm your submission and report a status soon after it is submitted. Google will also offer the opportunity to verify your Google Sitemap by placing a specially-named, empty HTML file on your server (in the root directory). After placing the file in your root directory, return to the Google Sitemap status page to complete the verification.
